Why do some people feel the need to censor speech? It is inconceivable to me that anyone who grew up in the United States would openly advocate for restrictions on free speech.
When I was young, people who disagreed would often say that “This is America” with the understanding that everyone could have their own viewpoints and opinions. That country no longer exists.
Now, there are groups like Antifa, who, with claim of anti-fascism, will spray bear mace in someone’s face who says things they disagree with. This represents actual fascism, and the press has no real opposition to this type of behavior, nor do Democrats.
Elizabeth Warren literally wants to criminalize speech she doesn’t agree with, to create government agencies to determine and punish speech that is “disagreeable”.
Bernie Sanders is a self-described Democrat Socialist, who wants to spend so much money on social programs no one in America, if all of their money were confiscated, could afford to support. Absolutely ridiculous numbers. The Democrat party says “don’t worry, we will support him if he wins the nomination, but none of that stuff will actually happen”. Then why support him? Why say vote for someone whose campaign promises are impossible?
Contrast this with Donald Trump, who has made tremendous progress despite the entire establishment’s daily onslaught.
If you think you would be better off with restricted speech, violently enforced and criminalized, with someone like Bernie Sanders in charge, why do you not already live in Cuba or Venezuela?

People like you are part of the reason that U.S. you describe no longer exists. You see wrong only on the opposing side. Don’t act as though what you call free speech is under attack only from the left.
Free speech and a free press go hand in hand and if Trump had his way, he would be able to control the media like Putin does with TASS. Trump claims the free press is fake news, yet he lies constantly. Just last night, while at a rally, Trump understated the number of cases in the U.S. and claimed that coronavirus is a Democrat hoax.

You just made a point for the Trump side. How come people who attack people wearing MAGA hats NEVER get charged with hate crimes? How come the media never covers those stories? Some posters here have made some valid points but the truth still remains that Trump doesn’t get positive media coverage no matter what he does. That’s why he treats the media like he does. He’s not trying to censor them. He just wants fair ACCURATE coverage. We deserve that and the media has cheated us of that.

I remember a time when conservatives criticized people who saw themselves as victims. Conservatives said victimhood was a character flaw and a sign of weakness. Now, Trump and the right wring their hands and proudly proclaim themselves to be victims.

Nobody said anything about being about victim. We understand the level of jealousy that the left is dealing with. Our President is kicking but and taking names and will be considered the gretest of all time and yours was an 8 year mistake that tried to sell out America to any foreign body who would take it. That’s exactly why we are treated differently.

Of course we shouldn’t spend money on defense, but Russia, Russia, Russia! Cuba is better than the US!
And Elizabeth Warren does want to criminalize speech, however you wish to sugarcoat that. Name a single other commission for the purpose of examining, classifying and punishing speech in America.
One thing Trump has done that’s good for America is the economy. Next would be the employment rate. Next would be the fact that I don’t have to pay for everyone in the world’s medical care.
You socialists have a large want list, why don’t you sell everything you have and distribute the money around. If you don’t you are a hypocrite. What you want is the government to force OTHER PEOPLE to distribute THEIR money around.
Vote for Sanders/Warren, lol. Trump is going to win in 2020, and you hate it.

John, I’m taxed for social security and Medicare. And because I own my own business I pay both employee and employer tax. I employed my late husband as well paying both sides of those taxes. When he died at 66, they didn’t return the taxes I paid. So yeah, you better believe I’m taking social security—because I’ve paid for it.

He”s reversed the industry killing regulations that served no purpose. He’s negotiated new trade deals that are good TO America. He removed us from the expensive Paris Accord and the Iran Nuclear deal that were only bad for America. He’s fighting for our gun rights. He’s fighting for our religious rights. What is good about that? Paris Accord was expensive? How so? Iran Nuclear deal was bad? How the hell could that be? How could any Nuclear deal ever be bad?! New Trade Deals? He dumped the old ones, and the only result of any deals he has made is to enrich himself, and increase to price WE pay for imported goods! Religious rights? Were there religious rights that someone had interfered with? Ever? Are you talking about the ones where my religion might differ from yours, so you feel that is affecting your rights somehow? Those deals were costing America far more than any other country. Climate change is a hoax. It’s a natural change in our climate that has happened repeatedly over history. Our environment is doing just fine. Our planet is greener than ever and IS NOT in danger. Nothing humans can do will have an impact on what the universe has survived for millions of years. Try studying real science and not the “science” of a 17 year old climate puppet. You are clearly a puppet to your crocked buddy George Thomas. His deals haven’t cost you a cent and in the long run will be extremely beneficial to us all. Don’t believe everything you hear on CNN. It’s going be a long 5 more years for you pal.

Regarding this coronavirus scare, and some of the advice we are being given from all over the place, I just thought I’d throw this into the mix. One of the most important things to control any outbreak of any contagious disease is to stay at home. But, the reality here in the USA is that most employers, including public employers, openly discourage, punish, and otherwise work to prevent that. Limited sick leave is given in those few jobs that allow such benefits, and employee reviews include attendance scrutiny. We need to change this mind set of perfect attendance, at every level, before we can follow this advice.

Got it all right. Election Day is 3 March, Tuesday, unless “You” have already voted. This will be one of the most important, choices, decisions YOU will make anytime soon. GULLIBLE, a sucker? Do YOU believe that Sanders, ANYBODY is going to give YOU, US all this FREE stuff, NO charge, don’t pay for nuthin?? The estimated COST of HIS FREE is bout 100 TRILLION$$$$$$ Where does HE, ANYBODY get that much money?? The other estimate is that American WORKERS, everybody’s FAMILY has an annual income of about 75 TRILLION$$$$. So Sanders, whoever would have to TAKE everything that every family, worker is paid across America, put all that YOU, ME, WE have worked for, put it all into one big pile. Then EVERYBODY gets in line, walks by the pile with OUR hands out and HE decides what WE get for “Fair Share”. So YOU, ME, US would have to figure out how OUR families survive on $200 per month, instead of $2,000 or more, because other people who put NOTHING in to the pile, also have to be “Paid” for not working.. A Socialist-Communist Government-LIFE. So everybody, BEFORE you make that important choice, ask yourself the question : “Do I have a job, do I make more money did I get a pay raise, tax cuts, my family is doing better, is my Retirement Fund looking better”. Are WE better off than WE were three years ago?? I am a Disabled Vietnam Era Vet.. I have titanium, screws, bolts for bones, body parts. I have seen how people “Live” in a Socialist-Communist regime. A “Commune”. I could not survive that. How about YOU, your family?.
