Starting up

September 5, 2021

This blog has been dark since May of 2020.

Unfortunately at the time there were commenters who chose to be vulgar and/or chose to engage in personal attacks.

That left us with the choice of 1) allowing the comments to stand as written, 2) edit the comments, or 3) engage in censorship. We chose going dark.

Coming back, the choice has been made to not accept comments directly.

If you wish to correspond with us please send an email to I have a day job and may not have time to respond to every email, or if I do, to respond in a timely manner.

Posts will not be made on a daily basis this time around. You can elect to receive an email when a post is made. The email enrollment facility is at the upper left portion of the home page.

Thank you for being engaged.

Unfortunate trend

May 17, 2020

We are seeing more and more people that seem to think that jumping to conclusions is a form of exercise.

We deserve better

Not sure what he means

May 15, 2020

A west-side restaurant owner authored a recent article in

You can read it here.

He tells us that he is angry.  Yet he does not tell us with whom.

I think most of us can read his article and understand his observations.  It seems that he has decided to remain closed.  He is taking responsibility for his situation and I respect that.

No one is forcing him to either open or remain closed.

Who does he want to do what?

What would ask be changed?

We deserve better

Less is more at EPISD

May 14, 2020

The El Paso Independent School District has been losing hundreds of students each year recently.

Their proposed budget for next year shows a drop in average daily attendance from 50,393 students per day in 2019-20 to 48,666 students in attendance per day in 2020-21.

That is a drop of 1,721 students in attendance each day.

Yet we don’t see the district’s budget getting smaller.

We deserve better
