We received an email the other day in which the sender alluded to acts of violence and vandalism aimed at people who were openly vocal about the whole ball park/city hall process.
S/he indicated that someone even contacted Facebook and demanded to know who was behind a particular account. When s/he refused to give Facebook identification the account was closed according to the writer.
Is this an isolated case?
We deserve better

Her/your story falls apart when you say, “someone even contacted Facebook and demanded to know who was behind a particular account. When s/he refused to give Facebook identification the account was closed…” Which is it? Someone contacted Facebook? Who? How does she know? Doesn’t she know that the only people who could make demands of Facebook would be people armed with proper subpoenas? If Facebook was contacted, how does she know, and to whom did she refuse to give Facebook identification? What account was closed? If it was her Facebook account, and she had refused to provide her ID, how the hell could the unidentified account be closed? I think somebody OD’d on the paranoia pill.

Facebook doesn’t allow anonymous accounts. Facebook may have asked the person to verify their identity, and when that person couldn’t, Facebook closed the account.

Not true. You can set up a fake Facebook account. As long as you can tie it to an e-mail account, which could also be a fake ID, you can verify the account. Facebook does not verify your identity. They simply verify that it is you who set up the account.

Either you or Facebook and I are wrong. See https://www.facebook.com/help/112146705538576. If anyone were to contest your fake i.d., Facebook would delete it.
You should check your reality.

I’m not suprised by anything in this city anymore, but I am confused by the description of events. Was the Facebook account the account of the person allegedly being victimized? Or was the victim trying to find out who was behind a particular account that was being used for bullying?

Even if it’s true this vandalism pales in comparison to the damage done to my car driving around on lousy city streets. The streets are getting worse by the week.

Was a police report filed?

I think the original question is:
Did you experience any vandalism after you posted about the baseball stadium back when all this started a year or 2 ago?
I did not experience any vandalism here.
(But then, I never use a real name on any of those postings and have never used a real name on facebook.)
