What do you have to do to get fired?

It appears that our county hospital board of managers gave our hospital administrator a $46,813 bonus for his performance last year.

As I recall the hospital lost its accreditation for a while last year over sterilization issues.  And we also can remember that they had to fire 56 people because of financial difficulties not long ago.  And then there is the “F” that a medicare rating agency gave them.  Let’s not forget the financial disaster with what used to be the children’s hospital.

The hospital board is out of touch.  The public can see the problem–the vivavalenti.com website shows 67 signatures on their petition to keep our current hospital administrator months after the petition was started.

We deserve better

  1. Valenti has already given his resignation, they should help him pack his stuff and have security escort him out! Given everything that we have found out about his activities in the last year, HOW can the County Commissioners continue to let him sit at that desk? He lied about bonuses and he’s still there? Perhaps he is the Trump of El Paso – he could fire a loaded gun in public and nothing would happen to him.

Can you imagine. . . being in office. . . in El Paso. . and somehow COMPLETELY avoiding these blogs !
COMPLETELY . . . .avoiding all of the voters and tax paying public’s comments, on these blogs and all comments on facebook and the newspapers comments and blogs.

    How do they do it?

  3. Fed Up says:

Cronyism, nepotism, and plain corruption runs this county and city and they will get rich and bleed the tax payers until the liberal welfare voting is stopped.

  4. I do not recall, safe answer says:

Reality, doesn’t any commissioners read agreements or have legal review them ?

Just another example of the court jesters failures.

And they still avoid any comments about the fraud, penalties and prosecution. The culprits readily admitted the crime with a little pressure they could determine who knew and who gave the wink. Two board members don’t risk committing a federal crime without key people knowing. If they really(wink) didn’t know, why not ?

So are the court jesters guilty of conspiracy or complacency? Either way, they shouldn’t be in office.

CCC has little control of the UMC board after they are appointed, unfortunately.

There is a quirk of governance in operation here, too. If the board has regularly given the CEO a bonus which they have, then to forego one is tantamount to saying, “You are not performing.” This then begs the question, “Why aren’t we firing him?”

Well, because they are not ready to fire him yet or too unsure of themselves. So, they give him a bonus and pretend things are on course.

No the CCC has the authority to remove the board members which they should for giving Million Dollar Man Valenti any bonus.

  6. Reality Checker says:

Valenti also misled the county commissioners by saying that all the bonuses were contractual obligations. The board knew better and they didn’t step in to correct the public record, so the board members were complicit.

Also where is our CCC on this ? Crickets!
