We don’t know how the students did.
Mr. Wever has sent us some reports.  We will publish them soon.  Stay tuned.

How do you recommend we evaluate the district?

If your definition of academic success is a test result…Again, let me point you toward Diane Ravitch’s book “The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education.” I think we all saw what happens when the tests trump everything.
What do we want our kids to be: Test takers or thinkers?

I once heard an interesting thought from a wise person. He said the the world is run by students that made C’s all through school. When you think about it, that is probably pretty close to the truth.

That was certainly true for Bush and Cheney, both C students. Look what we got 🙂

        Bill Gates
        Steve Jobs
        Frank Lloyd Wright
        Buckminster Fuller
        James Cameron
        Mark Zuckerberg
        Tom Hanks
        Harrison Ford
        Lady Gaga
        Tiger Woods

        All were college dropouts.

Einstein failed algebra. John Lennon and Ringo Staar were both told they had no musical talent by their chior teachers.

The point is, being able to pass a test does not indicate you will be a success.

Dawg, your units of analysis are not aligned. Brutus is asking to assess the district on the composite performance of all the students, not the ability of a test to determine the learning or future of one individual.

Hope our students are learning to see through the major flaws in arguments like yours.
