Property tax ranking

El Paso had the 3rd highest property tax rate (considering homestead allowances) among the nation’s 50 largest cities for taxes paid in 2016.

Our rate was 2.58%.

Milwaukee Wisconsin had the second highest rate at 2.669%.

With the community college increase of 4%, the city at 5%, EPISD at 6% and the county hospital at 6.4% it looks like we may sink to second place.

We deserve better

Exactly, John G. And IF the corrupt politicos decide to ALLOW US to vote on anything. It will be exactly like their baseball field. “Should the hotel tax be increased to PAY FOR the ball field”?? YES !! “Oh no stupid, ignorant peon, YOU just VOTED to PAY for the John Cook, City Council, Mountain Star Sports a MULTI-MILLION$$$$ baseball field”. This time will be the same “Con, Scam” by THEM on US. “Would you vote for ALL school CHILDREN (It’s for the CHILDREN) to get FREE ice cream every Friday”?? YES !! “Oh no, stupid, ignorant peon. YOU just voted to build, PAY FOR, Mountain Star Sports, Paul Foster, City Council, Commissioners, a MULTI-MILLION$$$$ soccer field. THEY get ALL the PROFIT, NO TAXES.” The HIGHEST TAXES in the country, more than a BILLION$$$ in DEBT and THEY just keep going, going and going and taxing and taxing……………This town, TAXPAYERS are BANKRUPT. And the politicians, carpetbaggers, profiteers just keep coming.

I don’t think that will happen a 2nd time without a straight Yes/No vote by the voters. In which case it would be a democratic decision, like it or not (e.g., the EPISD bond). The lesson has been learned.

However, be on the lookout for a Ms. Fuzzy Math business case, whoever puts it forward 🙂

    #1) El Paso, Texas
    Total salary needed: $40,204.
Why? It has the second-lowest median rent at $555 per month and the third-lowest cost of groceries and sixth lowest cost of utilities. Plus, El Paso’s rent prices have been falling this year, representing a decline of almost 15%.
