Are the egg beaters being repaired?

February 1, 2018

I drove by the egg beaters the other day and they were actually spinning.

On the way home they were motionless.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Are they trying to fix them?

I read somewhere that they can be frozen in case of high winds.

Is this an operational issue?

Maybe one of the people at the Times will look into this for us.

Another project fails

January 27, 2018

Speaking of the wind turbines on Airway, did you know this:

Once activated the turbines will generate energy. They will be tied into the power grid to offset electricity costs and to serve as a demonstration project for I-10 Aesthetic Master Plan.

The statement above came from the artist’s web site.

We somehow find a way to build things but never seem to have the money to keep them working.

According to this site we spent $7 million dollars on this.

Refuse the Juice speaks out

January 26, 2018

David K over at Refuse The Juice posted an interesting article the other day.  You can read it here.

Many of our readers are under the mistaken belief that newspapers are supposed to be impartial.

It is true that many newspapers are less blatant in their bias than the Times.

City to begin starting on Chelsea pool

January 24, 2018

The city is finally starting to do something about Chelsea pool.  The city closed it in 2012, the same year the voters approved building a new pool to replace the closed one.

Take a look at this graphic:

The city’s evaluation committee ranked proposals for the management of the pool construction.

Who do they plan to award the contract to?  The firm that was ranked number three.

West side street resurfacing

January 23, 2018

The city is starting to think about fixing some of our local roads.

We frequently hear that the west side of El Paso “gets more” than other parts of town.

Take a look at this slide:

There are two other slides in the presentation.  They list streets in districts other than the west side district (number 1).

The city is thinking about doing work on three streets on the west side of town.

The three streets are all in the Kern Place/Cincinnati area of town.

The rest of the neighborhood streets in the west side will get nothing.

We deserve better
