A date that will live in infamy

December 7, 2018

Our entry into world war two came after a Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on this day (December 7) 1941.

A lot has changed since then.

Initiative

December 6, 2018

A good friend suggested the other day that in light of the fact that city council restricts public input and that city council members read this blog we should find a way to allow the readers to initiate discussions on the blog.

This would allow people to bring up topics without making comments that are off topic.

What day of the week should we do this?

We deserve better

Carpetbaggers running our local governments?

December 5, 2018

For some reason our public institutions have been hiring their senior managers from out of town the last few years.

Look at what that has gotten us at the city and EPISD.

Maybe we should start hiring people who live here and are committed to our community.

We deserve better

A local newspaper

December 4, 2018

I stopped by a restaurant for breakfast the other day and observed three different people reading newspapers.

As it turned out they were reading El Diario.

One of the clues was the number of pages in the newspaper.

Another was the length of the articles.

Many of us would subscribe to an English language version of El Diario.

We deserve better

Runoff elections

December 3, 2018

Early voting for the city runoff election ends December 11, 2018.

As it turns out both runoffs (district 1 and district 8) are west side elections.

As of the end of the third day of early voting the statistics were:

That’s pretty sad.

Please go vote.

The election is Saturday, December 15, 2018.

We deserve better
