Double whammy

The Times reported the other day that El Paso’s average wage was 23.5 percent below the national average.

On the other hand we have the third highest property taxes of America’s 50 largest cities.

What does it take to be in third place?  Our property taxes are 193 percent of the 50 city average.

Some will observe that Texas does not have an income tax.  A state income tax might lower property taxes, so if we just look at just the Texas cities on the list of 50 we compute that the El Paso tax rate is 120.5 percent of the Texas average.

Simple arithmetic

With wages 23.5 percent lower than the national average our citizens have less money.  Yet our property taxes are 20.5 percent higher than the other high tax rate Texas cities.

That does not add up to a good economic situation yet we are told that “It’s all good”.

We deserve better

Let’s keep giving more tax breaks to the rich and letting them get special appraisals on their property so they don’t have to pay so much and so we can get the trickles…oh wait…has anybody seen any trickles lately?

But we have all the nice stuff! Refurnished (recycled) plastic alligators in a refurnished vacant lot, big ugly empty buses that bend in the middle (recycled too), gonna have a trolley to nowhere with (you guessed it) refurnished (recycled)trolley cars, And we ain’t gonna raise property taxes this year. Well maybe the school and Community College portions. (Look out next year). BOHICA! (Bend over-here it comes again!)

If you’re lonely, go hang out with Woody and Paul. They’re Republicans and they have some nice stuff paid for with tax dollars.

We don’t have to put up with those rich folks. We can drive them out of town with enough nasty blogs. Then our average income will drop some more and our taxes will go up to pay for what they no longer pay. Keep it up!

That is what happens when you have a city run by DEMOCRATS. Where every person in any PUBLIC, POLITICAL office is a DEMOCRAT. And what has that ever gotten El Pasoans?? NO jobs, LOW wages, untrained, uneducated workers. A Border sanctuary where American businesses, industries will NOT locate. City Council, County Commissioners-Tax, waste, spend, tax some more. NO tax base, so ONLY homeowners bear the burdens of everything these politicos want. Property “values” go UP, ALWAYS followed by another tax INCREASE. It be’s like that in El Taxo.
