The Times continues to show its hypocrisy through its editorial the other day.
They want us to agree that our elected officials at the county should be paid much more than they are now.
El Chuqueno did a nice job challenging the Times the other day.
Can we get the Times to divulge the salaries of their reporters? While we’re at it maybe we could talk them into bringing back to El Paso the jobs that they have exported to other cities.
Then again maybe if they had their editorial content managed somewhere else we would end up with a newspaper that advocated for their readers.
We deserve better

Actually, we should probably stop referring to “The Times” as having anything to do with El Paso. They are, after all, only the local version of “USA Today,” aren’t they? That said, I totally agree that people elected to part time positions do not need or deserve high salaries for their public service. If they do not feel that they are adequately compensated, they did not have to run for the office they hold, and they should not run for re-election. As for what salaries are paid at the local branch of the national rag, I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that they pay on a scale pretty much like the rest of El Paso (think low. think very low).

What is the part time salary of our Congressman?

I’ve seen some figures before but I would estimate that Beto has earned himself a LIFETIME salary (that is even after he retires or loses to an opponent) in the 6 figures category. Outrageous that these congressmen can continue dipping at the well almost to no end.

I think we have a good number of elitist representatives and commissioners who also have a sense of entitlement to such things as perks, high compensation, and expensive, fluffy entertainment venues no matter how much future debt they may be incurring for present and future taxpayers.

Dear Brutus,
I believe you will be in a mo’better mood if you just cancel your subscription to the EP TIMES.

I echo Haiduc. The Diario actually gives some decent coverage on some issues if seeking an alternative.

Our reps should be paid a professional wage even if some of them are anything but. Otherwise you get the bored rich or bored retirees (like me).

Can’t speak in regards to the City but to the county who are you trying to kid. There are a lot of people with college degrees in El Paso County who would love to be making what CCC members make right now. Surely you jest! Guess you are unaware of the endemic problem of underemployment in El Paso County.
