Sen. Jose Rodríguez deserves an honorable mention for managing to tic off City Council and Vince Perez. I’m not a huge fan of his political views, but I respect the fact that he speaks with an independent voice, which is sadly missing from the rest of our elected officials.

Sen. Jose Rodríguez for managing to tick off city council (Gringolandia) and Vince Perez with his unscripted remarks. My previous post with links to those news stories seems to have been caught in your spam filter, Brutus. Please check your dashboard and free it up.

“BEST local Government Official”?? One of the Animal Control pick up workers. The one I had contact with, well she was very nice to people and pets, dogs. Can’t think of ANY other “Local Officiale” that would “Qualify”.

David Stout would be my choice for best local elected official. David focuses on his constituents needs while maintaining a sense of decorum when others refuse to do so.

The YISD Board of Trustees.
They used State financing (instead of the taxpayer funded bonds) to pay for $215 million of a $430 million bond.
All projects were built on time and came in $35 million under budget.
They lowered the tax rate. The only local government entity that has done so in recent memory.
They awarded all but 1 contract to local businesses and that contractor subcontracted part of the award locally.
They are immediately responsive to phone calls.
They consistently behave professionally and respectfully with the constituency, the administration, and staff.

I in no way share his political philosophy, but believe him to be honest and transparent about his beliefs and agenda.
