El Diario stands up for El Pasoans

May 27, 2016

This came in from Helen Marshall:

El DIario is calling for TxDot to reschedule the construction works on I-10 and Paisano to prevent another total collapse of westside traffic in the event of an accident.

In the accompanying story it is noted that the paper tried to reach Peter Svarzbein, whose district includes the works, for comment but none was received.

A note from Helen Marshall

May 18, 2016

This came in from Helen Marshall:

I am saddened that some of your commenters found it funny to insert snide remarks about “guys peeing in the ladies room” in a discussion of the traffic congestion here.

Perhaps if they had some personal understanding of the difficulties faced by transgendered people they might see it differently.

In any case they do your efforts to write thoughtful, focused pieces a serious disservice.

Needless delays

May 13, 2016

Our local traffic has become severely congested for reasons that could be avoided.

Many of us see that several construction projects have been launched simultaneously and have impeded traffic flows.

In addition we are seeing examples of traffic lanes on significant arteries being blocked off with absolutely no construction activity occurring.

How long will this go on without someone, somewhere stepping in and managing the situation to our benefit?

We deserve better

Traffic destruction

April 26, 2016

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me why we must endure construction on I-10, Trans Mountain, Doniphan, and Stanton all at the same time?

Sunland Park eastbound exit

April 12, 2016

Unfortunately we have yet another traffic hazard now because of the various construction projects.

The I-10 exit lanes eastbound at Sunland Park have been reduced to one lane.

The result is that traffic stopped at the signal at Sunland Park and the exit ramp now frequently backs into the right hand lane of I-10.

Then traffic on the freeway flows into a line of stopped vehicles.  Brakes are slammed on.

If you are approaching the Sunland Park exit of I-10 heading east find a way to get into the left lanes.

We deserve better
