Political correctness going overboard

Evidently a substitute teacher at a local high school recently told a student to “speak English, we’re in America”.

Now LULAC is calling on the Texas Education Agency to revoke the teacher’s teaching certificate.

No one that I know of was there to witness the event so we don’t know what (if anything) led up to the event.  We don’t know the teacher’s background.  She might of been trying to give what she thought was good advice.

If you are of the view that the teacher’s instruction was inappropriate, does this rise the level where she should lose her license?

Maybe counseling would be in order.

Maybe a reprimand would be appropriate.

Maybe we should thank her for trying to help a youngster.

We seem to be losing our sense of scale.

We deserve better

What is Mexico thinking?

I’m hearing a lot of talk around town about the people suing Walmart.

Personally I don’t agree that Walmart should be held liable, some people see it differently.

What is more troubling to me is that the government of Mexico is helping with the lawsuits.

According to an NPR report Mexico also plans to seek the extradition of the shooter.

He should be tried in the United States where he evidently committed the murders.

Mexico should have no say in this issue.

Reversed roles

If you watch the video of the city manager where he tells city council that there is “no story here” in regard to the $100 million of certificates of obligation that they are planning to issue you will see that he is lecturing, no telling city council what to do and say.

It seems that they have all forgotten his place.

He is supposed to work for city council, not the other way around.

This is not good.

City council spends more of our money

The city plans to have a runoff election for the district 3 representative position.

This is necessary because city council decided that the incumbent district 3 representative had resigned from city council when a post showing her to be running for the office of mayor was posted on social media.

There will also be a special election to replace the district 6 representative who is running for an open seat in the Texas house of representatives.

The cost to the citizens will be $157,619.55.  This is money the county will charge to conduct the elections.

We deserve better
