Used schools for sale

April 11, 2019

When writing Not in my backyard I was hoping to stimulate some conversation about what options the feral government should consider relative to temporarily housing the migrants while they are being processed.

We did get a few ideas.

Let me try again by suggesting that they should look at some of the schools that we are closing.

  • They have a lot of bathrooms
  • They have a kitchen and a dining room
  • They have parking lots
  • They have playgrounds
  • They have classrooms for teaching

Showers would have to be added but in the meantime they could rent trailers like this:

The rental or purchase money would help the local taxpayers.

An attaboy for the city

April 10, 2019

I heard a local the other day telling a story that he considered surprising.

Evidently while crossing a major street he found one of the pedestrian crossing signal buttons to be inoperative.

He called the city’s 311 number and reported the issue.

Within a week the problem had been fixed.

Isn’t it a shame that he was surprised?

Maybe things are improving over there.

Short on explanations

April 9, 2019

This slide was part of a recent presentation at the El Paso Independent School District:

Are they in their own little world or what?

Maybe they are trying to save ink.

I for one don’t know whether kindergarten students not taking the DRA/EDL at BOY was a good thing or not.

Maybe writing in code is considered to be a skill at the district.

If so, maybe I should submit this as my application:

ABCD birds?

LMRNo birds

OSMR birds

MRJ birds

Thanks dad!

Solutions are out there

April 8, 2019

We are hearing about all sorts of capacity problems that our feral government is having with the migrant flood.

Whether we should be accommodating the migrants or not is a policy issue that our local government workers cannot control.  Our current laws evidently allow the flood to happen.  The government employees need to find a way to handle the issue.

Some of the problems sound like they either don’t want to solve the problem or they aren’t thinking.

As an example we heard the other day that they don’t have enough buses to transport the migrants  to wherever they are going to be housed.

We all know that the city has extra Sun Metro buses.  We know that the school districts have a lot of big yellow buses that are not in use during the middle of the day.  For that matter Fort Bliss has buses that they use from time to time.

The readers can probably suggest additional bus sources and alternative ways of transporting the people.

Time for new immigration rules

April 7, 2019

Wow!

This migrant crisis certainly has people writing in strong terms.

I try to read each comment on the blog carefully and often don’t understand how some of them indicate that the writer has come to a conclusion about what another writer believes.

Maybe congress should do something about it.
